Siblings Find Forever Home with New Foster Parents

Days after graduating from foster parenting training, Lee Anne and Jerry Siguenza were suddenly asked to provide an emergency home for three children. With Christmas just a couple days away, the couple was nervous but said “yes” to four-year old Ronald, two-year old Miriah, and 10-month old Julius.

One foster child can be a challenging transition for new foster parents. Taking on three had the Siguenzas worried that they weren’t prepared enough, especially when the siblings newborn brother, Emmanuel, joined them. But the Berkshire Farm Center’s foster care staff were there to back them up with their time, advice, and help linking them to useful resources along the way.

imageSoon, Lee Anne and Jerry grew to love these four children as their very own, and they decided to bring this beautiful family together officially. In February, their dream became a reality when they adopted Ronald, Miriah, Julius, and Emmanuel in Rensselaer County Family Court. Because so many of the Siguenzas’ friends and family attended, Judge Elizabeth Walsh brought in extra chairs so everyone had a seat.
