Rite Aid Foundation supports Berkshire programming

Berkshire’s Foster Care Program and its Prevention Services in the Suffolk County region of Long Island are better able to help keep children and families together, thanks to a $10,000 donation from the Rite Aid Foundation. At a special ceremony held at the Rite Aid store in Huntington, NY on Sept. 17th, the foundation’s KidCents Program presented its check to Kelly Rumm, Berkshire’s Foster Care Program Coordinator for the region.

image“We are extremely grateful for Rite Aide’s gift of $10,000. This gift means a lot to all of us – staff, foster parents, and the children in our care,” Rumm (pictured above) told Rite Aid officials and others attending the ceremony. “We will use this money to support children and families in the local community who are struggling and in need of help. Rite Aid’s generous gift will certainly help us ensure that more families are able to stay together,” Rumm said.

Rite Aid’s KidCents Program is an innovative way for customers participating in their wellness+ Program to support organizations that help children and families. “Customers participating in KidCents round up their purchases to the nearest dollar. That extra change goes to support programs for kids in our communities,” explained Rodolfo Lopez, Rite Aid’s Pharmacy District Manager for the Suffolk County area.

Lopez said the Rite Aid Foundation developed KidCents as a way to do even more to help the kids in the communities they serve. “We are proud to partner with nonprofit kid-focused organizations like Berkshire Farm Center & Services for Youth, who work in our local communities to help improve the health and well-being of children,” said Lopez. “Rite Aid has long been committed to helping our communities live well.”
