Berkshire HR Director raises $1,035 in 10K race for children in foster care
HR Director Kelly O’Brien of Berkshire Farm Center and Services for Youth wanted to help support children placed in foster care with her organization, and the Atlantic City Marathon Series
10K race gave her that opportunity. O’Brien not only crushed her personal record in the October 22 race, but she also raised more than her original goal of $1,000—all of which would go toward supporting children in Berkshire’s residential, foster care, and family programs.
“Rain, wind and a slippery boardwalk made for an interesting race, but with the support of my colleagues at Berkshire, I pushed through and hit a personal record with a pace of 8.48 minutes per mile,” said O’Brien. “I exceeded my fundraising goal of $1,000 and raised $1,035 for children in care with Berkshire. It was so much fun to race the Atlantic City Marathon Series 10K and I am so glad I had the opportunity to participate.”
O’Brien’s donation will help to supply children with everyday necessities, as well as with opportunities for normal childhood experiences such as summer camp, prom, and family outings. —Sydney Lester
